Parking in the Cathedral Close
Before the formation of the Salisbury Plain Benefice the Orcheston PCC raised a complaint with the Dean and Chapter of Salisbury Cathedral that one of our parishioners, who was attending a service in the Cathedral, had been charged £6 to park in one of the disabled bays. We have correspondence dating back to November 2012.
I am pleased to report that following yet another chase I have had a telephone conversation with the Floor Manager, Mark Bonner, that parking, whether disabled or otherwise, is FREE for anyone attending a service in the Cathedral. I am assured that the parking attendants have been reminded that this is the case. Should any of you experience similar difficulties in the future Mr Bonner has asked that you contact him direct and refer the attendant to my conversation with Mr Bonner.
A small but encouraging success for the tenacity of the Secretary of the former Orcheston PCC.
Finally, I am pleased to report that the ORCHESTON HARVEST LUNCH yesterday went well, with 24 guests who contributed generously to the raffle and to the success of the event.William Ashton lead the Grace before lunch and thanks are due to all the helpers and those who contributed salads, puddings etc.
Paul Taylor, Churchwarden, St Mary’s Orcheston.
