Orcheston Outdoor Service 28/8/16

Ceiling down but spirits are high.

The ceiling at St. Mary’s Church, Orcheston recently suffered further damage and precautions have had to be taken for holding services inside: but this didn’t hold back the church family of Orcheston and Salisbury Plain Benefice from meeting outside! The first outside communion service since the formation of the Benefice, (which was a much more windy affair).

Today, although candles were eventually blown out by the breeze, the joy was not extinguished. A little drizzle made it under the canopy, but spirits were not dampened. A service in-the-round added to the closeness of the moment in beautiful surroundings and although cooling a little outside, was warmed by continued fellowship following the service, over hot drinks (and maybe the odd biscuit!).

We were also joined by John and Alma, married here, on their 60th wedding anniversary, who shared fond tales of their occasion.

Blessed all around.
