#thishelped

We are beginning a project, aimed in the long term to support our own community members as they come to terms with loss. Who better to support us when we are hurting, than those who have been there too?

Although we know that grief is unique to every person, and every situation, we also know that when we lose someone it can be an overwhelmingly lonely time. So maybe something that helped you, might help me…or your friend two doors down, or in the next village.  You might have a poem or a routine or a strategy that worked for you and may just help them too.

If you would like to help, we are simply asking you to answer the following questions. If there are things which really didn’t help, please do feel free to tell them to us too- just make sure we know that! Please feel free to give more detail if you want to, over the page, or on additional sheets:

When you first knew that someone was going to die, what helped?

In those first days, as you had to come to terms with loss and make lots of plans, what helped?

As the days became months or even years, what helped?

Thank you.

You do not need to put your name or contact details on the reply if you don’t want to, but if you have more to say, let us know and we’d be delighted to hear it.

Finally, if things continue to be really difficult for you now, and you would like some support, please do get in touch. Don’t feel you are all alone.
