THE COLLECT FOR TODAY
whose most dear Son went not up to joy
but first he suffered pain, and entered not into glory before he was crucified:
mercifully grant that we,
walking in the way of the cross,
may find it none other
than the way of life and peace;
through Jesus Christ your Son our Lord,
who is alive and reigns with you, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God now and for ever. Amen
Not everyone feels comfortable about coming to church on Mothering Sunday, and often for many and varied reasons.
Historically, however, this day was about coming home; home to ‘mother church’, home to the church family. Please do join us next week if you can. We will be sharing our thanks for those (not just mothers) who have nurtured us and cared for us over our lives, but we’ll also be giving thanks for one another, and the love of God that binds us eternally.
You may not be aware that we produce a prayer list every month, for those in our community who would like our prayers. We also pray for friends and family of those in the parish, for our schools and other parts of the community. Copies can be found in Shrewton Church, or by email on request (to Eleanor).
Tilshead Lent Collection for Trussell Trust
In addition to the year-round collections of dried and tinned goods in Chitterne and Orcheston, during the period of Lent there is a temporary collection point in Tilshead Church. Please note that donations should have a reasonable use-by or ‘best before’ date. If leaving Biscuits etc. please can we encourage you to double wrap them to avoid becoming an invitation to our rodent population? Many thanks!
