Please do come along to this holiday event, bringing an adult or two with you. Great opportunity for fellowship, learning, crafts and worship together. All welcome.

Orcheston Garden Party on Saturday, 3rd June from 2pm onwards
Plants, produce and delicious cream teas will be served at Crown Cottage by kind invitation of Derek and Maureen Harnett. Raising money for St Mary’s, Orcheston and all are very welcome!

Welcoming our New curate, Stéphane Javelle
Please look out for the leaflet in churches about our welcome to Stéphane. Some of you have been asking what a ‘curate’ actually is, so there is further explanation to be found there.

On 2nd July, Stéphane will be ordained in Salisbury Cathedral. All are welcome to attend that service. The PCC have decided that there will be no morning service in the Benefice on that day. In the evening of 2nd July we will have a short welcome service for Stéphane at Chitterne church at 5.30pm, so please come to that if you can’t get to the cathedral or lunch (see below).

SHARING MEAL, following Ordination Service, Maddington Church Room, 2nd July
‘Firstly everyone is welcome so please just phone me to tell me you are coming so we have an idea of numbers. I am hoping to co-ordinate the sharing meal and below are only suggestions. If you can contribute to the meal please do let me know what you can offer (as soon as possible as I am on holiday mid-June for a few weeks) and how many people will be coming with you on the day. Cutlery, crockery and glasses will be provided. If you have any allergies (eg.GF, vegan) please bring your own fayre. Please bring your own drink. Thank you.’ Sarah Le Fevre 01980 621925

Ascension Service, 25th May 7pm

St Thomas à Becket Church, Tilshead

Do come to share in this service which marks one of the most significant events in our church life. Although we often forget this day among the busyness of Christmas, or Easter, this is the occasion upon which Christ gave out his Great Commission before taking his leave of the disciples.

MADDINGTON CHURCH ANNUAL CHURCH SPRING CLEANING, 20th MAY at 10am. Please do come and help if you are able, the more the merrier. Tilshead Summer Fete, 20th May, 2pm
in support of the Fabric of Tilshead Church. Do come along and enjoy this traditional summer fete in the grounds of Tynley House, Tilshead.

Shrewton Silver Band Concert, 20th May 7.30pm
St Mary’s Shrewton. ‘Themes of Film & Screen Adults £5, under 16s free, pay on the door, all welcome!

Maddington Service , 21st May 10.30am.
The mid-morning service which is normally held in Shrewton, St Mary, will move to Maddington St Mary for this annual event followed by refreshments. All welcome.

Rogation Walk & Picnic, 21st May
On this day we hope to continue our tradition of walking from the 4 villages to the centre of the parish and then share a picnic lunch. Please keep your eyes open for publicity in the churches, and online. There is a different start point/time for each village

Rogation Sunday, 21st May – Walk and Picnic

On Sunday 21st May you are welcome to join us, the four churches of Chitterne, Orcheston, Shrewton and Tilshead – Salisbury Plain Benefice – for our Rogation Sunday walk and picnic on the Plain

Walking: We’ll be leaving at 10.45 from Chitterne Village Hall or 11.00 from Tilshead and Orcheston Village Halls (people from Shrewton who are attending the 10.30 annual service in St Mary’s Maddington will drive rather than walk). We arrive at 12 noon at the cross tracks south of Copehill Plantation where our four villages meet, at GR SU 031454

Driving: Via Tank Crossing M (signposted off the A360, north of the CCF Camp, south of Tilshead). Park at Copehill Plantation and walk down to the cross tracks for the meeting at 12 noon

Picnic: Please bring your own picnic. Cake and hot and cold drinks will be provided at Copehill Plantation

 

9 am                    Morning Prayer at St Mary’s, Orcheston
10.30 am             Holy Communion at St Mary’s, Maddington (annual service)
10.45/11.00 am   Walk from four villages to the cross tracks (or to Copehill Plantation car parking)
12 noon               Meet at the cross tracks (see map above)

We will be remembering Leonard Maton in the church chancel at 11am. All welcome.

6pm at Tilshead Church. We are delighted that our lovely choir will be leading a service of sung Evensong, so please do come along and join us! It is unusual these days to have BCP Evensong sung in a small local church, but we are very much looking forward to renewing this tradition in our own parish; something quintessentially English!
