Rogation Sunday, 21st May – Walk and Picnic

On Sunday 21st May you are welcome to join us, the four churches of Chitterne, Orcheston, Shrewton and Tilshead – Salisbury Plain Benefice – for our Rogation Sunday walk and picnic on the Plain

Walking: We’ll be leaving at 10.45 from Chitterne Village Hall or 11.00 from Tilshead and Orcheston Village Halls (people from Shrewton who are attending the 10.30 annual service in St Mary’s Maddington will drive rather than walk). We arrive at 12 noon at the cross tracks south of Copehill Plantation where our four villages meet, at GR SU 031454

Driving: Via Tank Crossing M (signposted off the A360, north of the CCF Camp, south of Tilshead). Park at Copehill Plantation and walk down to the cross tracks for the meeting at 12 noon

Picnic: Please bring your own picnic. Cake and hot and cold drinks will be provided at Copehill Plantation


9 am                    Morning Prayer at St Mary’s, Orcheston
10.30 am             Holy Communion at St Mary’s, Maddington (annual service)
10.45/11.00 am   Walk from four villages to the cross tracks (or to Copehill Plantation car parking)
12 noon               Meet at the cross tracks (see map above)
12.30 pm             Cake and hot and cold drinks at Copehill Plantation
1.30 pm               Beating the Bounds of Orcheston (voluntary!)
6 pm                    BCP Holy Communion, St Thomas’s, Tilshead
