THE COLLECT FOR TODAY
Almighty and everlasting God,
increase in us your gift of faith that,
forsaking what lies behind
and reaching out to that which is before,
we may run the way of your commandments
and win the crown of everlasting joy;
through Jesus Christ our Lord,
who is alive and reigns with you,
in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
one God, now and for ever. Amen.
Messy Church, 24th October, 10.30am-1pm
Shrewton Methodist Church.
Do come and spend time with your family as we think about Jesus, the Light of the World. This is a family event, so children need to bring at least one adult with them! Lunch included. Why not bring the grandchildren?!
26th October, 100th Anniversary, Ernest Barter
Shrewton War Memorial, 11am. Please do join us for this short act of commemoration.
Remembering our Loved Ones,
2nd November, 7pm at Shrewton, St Mary
At this annual service we remember those who have died, and offer our prayers for them and for those who are grieving. If you would like a loved one remembered by name, please write (clearly, please) on the lists which can be found at the back of each church in the parish.
TEMPORARY RE-ORDERING IN ST MARY’S CHURCH, SHREWTON
We have been given permission to temporarily remove 4 pews in the rear north aisle of the church, with a view to making a faculty application for their permanent removal. The space would be left open, in order to make access to the Books of Remembrance more straightforward.
We have just put into the church 24 chairs- again for a trial period of 6 weeks-which could be used at any big service or event where additional seating is required.
Please let us know if you have any comments during the course of this trial. Thank you.
DATE FOR YOUR DIARY
Wednesday 6th December Sudan Lunch in Chitterne Village Hall. More details, including information about how to purchase tickets, will follow in due course.
