SALISBURY PLAIN BENEFICE CHURCH SERVICES

BCP relates to services in Traditional language, taken from the Book of Common Prayer which was published in 1662.

The Service of Evensong is traditionally sung Evening Prayer. In summer months we often have a choir to lead us in this service.

Most of the services in our monthly rota are services of Holy Communion, at which we remember Jesus’ offering of bread and wine to his disciples and reminding them that these represent his body and blood as he was sacrificed on the cross.

‘Family Communion’ indicates that this service is less formal than ‘Holy Communion’, and would be more user friendly for people who aren’t familiar with church, or with younger people or children.

Everyone, of any age, is welcome to any of our services.

Family Service & Tea is a very informal gathering which always ends with tea, toast, sandwiches, cakes and the chance to catch up. This event is popular with people of all ages. Children often take part in leading this service.

The Benefice Service, which takes place only when there is a 5th Sunday in a month, is the only service on that day in our Benefice. It is hosted in rotation by one of the 4 churches in the parish.
