Marking All Soul's in Tilshead
October 31st 2020
How do you mark community things in 2020? The short answer is ‘with difficulty’. In Tilshead some villagers came up with the covid-safe idea of a pumpkin trail throughout the village, passing by the church as one of the key locations. We filled our porch with light, and the wonderful image of an angel, whose wings were made with hand prints cut out by the local children. The word Angel means messenger, and so we encouraged visitors to consider who they might act as an angel for in their community. Who could they bring a message of love, hope and new life in this very difficult time?
What a great day for a Wedding!
Weddings were pretty few and far between in 2020, but we were very fortunate to be able to celebrate 2 during the early autumn. A wedding during a pandemic requires some careful additional planning, so we added alcohol wipes to the list of ‘kit’ for the registration of the marriage. Lots of very stylish masks were in evidence too. What a glorious, happy day we had though; even a global crisis couldn’t dampen our spirits!
Easter Reflection with the school
When you are getting ready for Easter what are the things you want to let go so that you can step into new life? With the school, members of the church and the village community, we made individual flowers to represent our thoughts and prayers. We then celebrated God’s gift of new beginnings in our end of term worship in church.
We had a lego competition in the run up to Christmas and the participants pulled out all the stops!
